AirClic Mobile Solution

Barcode Scanning

Rockhopper is now ‘Mobilized by AirClic’, providing Penguin Blue customers with real-time visibility of package status and proof of delivery.

Apart from conventional courier operations, examples of Rockhopper ‘Mobilized by AirClic’ barcode scanning solutions include:

Scheduled Routes

Typical solutions include dedicated Bank and Medical routes:

Using a compatible mobile phone fitted with the AC25 barcode scanner, the driver logs in, indicates route number, arrives at the first stop and scans the location ID barcode, indicates Pickup and/or Delivery, and scans packages, obtains PoD.

Once the stop is complete, data is transmitted updating the Rockhopper System (Figure 1 below) and the companion web-manifest for customer tracking (Figures 2.1-2.3 below).

As the driver completes each stop, piece counts are reconciled. If a mismatch is detected, the System warns the driver and dispatcher by indicating the barcode number and type of goods discrepancy.

This scanning solution is completely independent of your customer's system, making it a snap to deploy. Let the customer decide what level of detail they wish to track:

  1. Detailed tracking by goods types
You provide a separate roll of barcodes labels with appropriate prefixes for the type of goods being transported, and they attach them to the packages as needed, saving one copy for their batch control log. The rest is automatic.

  2. Package tracking only

      a. Your barcodes
You provide rolls of generic barcode labels, and they attach them all packages regradless of goods type, saving one copy for their batch control log. The rest is automatic.

      b. Their barcodes
In many industries such as pharmaceutical, office supplies, and banking, barcoded labels are already affixed to the packages.

  3. No barcoded packages
Packages do not have to be barcoded for system to be effective; the driver can indicate goods types by scanning the appropriate barcode from the AirClic-provided SmartCard, then keying in the quantity.

Note that if the location ID barcode is affixed inside the building or lockbox (as opposed to printed on the driver manifest, Figure 3 below) the driver has to physically be present to obtain the location scan. Regardless, GPS coordinates are transmitted with each stop so you know exactly where the scan took place.

The above scenario includes tracking for mail trays, tubs, tubes, envelopes, boxes, proof bags, ATM bags, specimens (ambient, refrigerated, frozen), lab reports, medical records, x-rays, and supplies. However there is no limit to the number of goods types which can be stored, or industries to which this solution can be applied.

Rockhopper ‘Mobilized by AirClic’ also supports on-demand jobs, so you can easily dispatch extra calls to stat or routine drivers, taking full advantage of the above benefits.

Distribution Routes

Typical solutions include Pharmaceutical routes, however there is no limit to the industries to which this solution can be applied.

In conjunction with the Distribtion Route ControlNew! module, deploying the AirClic Mobile Solution allows drivers to log into the AirClic application, enter a route number and scan all packages onto vehicle; the System verifies that all packages are accounted for before the driver leaves warehouse. Driver arrives at first stop and proceeds as outlined above.

Summary

With its real-time package tracking capabilities and web-based manifest, deploying the Rockhopper ‘Mobilized by AirClic’ solution provides accountability, improves accuracy, saves dispatch operator time by eliminating redundant data entry, reduces customer call-backs, and helps eliminate claims.
